The most famous monarchs from the House of Stewart are probably Mary Stuart (known as Mary, Queen of Scots) and her son James VI of Scotland, who later also became James I of England, uniting the thrones of the two countries.
Due to the turbulent history of the Stewarts, their genealogical line has led to much speculation. Debatable points include the legitimacy of some inheritances and the exact lineage of some branches of the family.
