The aborigines of the British Isles
The skeleton of Cheddar Man was found in 1903 in the Somerset region near the village of Cheddar in England. He lived about 9,100 years ago, making him one of the first people to repopulate the British Isles after the end of the last ice age. Genetic studies have revealed a lot of information about his appearance. He most likely had green or blue eyes, dark hair and a dark skin colour. This appearance is considered typical of the people of Western Europe at that time.
Cheddar Man belonged to haplogroup I2 in the paternal line and to haplogroup U5b1 in the maternal line.
